Sentence editing worksheets
Each sentence has deliberate mistakes. Students rewrite it correctly on the lines. You choose the kinds of mistakes: a missing capital at the start, a name or the word I in lowercase, a wrong or missing end mark, a verb that does not fit, a missing comma or missing quotation marks.
A second page type gives sentences without their end marks and asks for a period, a question mark or an exclamation point. All sentences come from a reviewed list, so the answer key is exact.
What you can choose
- Capital letters at the start, for names and days, and for the word I
- End marks: period, question mark, exclamation point
- Verbs that agree, commas in a list or after an introduction, quotation marks
- One to three mistakes per sentence, with an optional count as a hint
- Sentences chosen for kindergarten through grade 3
